Gullmarsplan-Nynäsvägen

Gullmarsplan and Nynäsvägen form the link between the inner city and Söderstaden (The Southern city). The area is planned to undergo a major urban transformation. With a wide range of housing, workplaces, trade and services, the area is to become a hub for southern Stockholm with a safe and lively city life around the clock.

Gullmarsplan-Nynäsvägen is a sub-project in Söderstaden. The area stretches from Hammarby canal in the north to Sofielundsmotet in the south, and mostly consists of roads, tracks and green areas. Gullmarsplan is today one of Stockholm's largest interchange points with subway, cross-railway and bus.

The development of the area around Gullmarsplan and Nynäsvägen is estimated to last from 2030 until 2040.

The stage of investigation

The city of Stockholm is working to investigate the conditions for urban development in the area. The intention is to produce a structural plan that shows the street structure, location and scale of new buildings at a glance.

The ambition is to create a new city street on top of a covering of Nynäsvägen where Gullmarsplan is connected with its surroundings. Among other things, this would mean more space for people and urban life where the area is connected to the surroundings and traffic noise can be controlled away. To make this possible, a solution is required that is both technically and economically feasible. Proposals for the design of the area will be presented in future program proposals.
