The works have proven more complex than initially planned due to geological conditions, high levels of total sulphur, and the presence of additional cables. To protect nearby buildings and the underground system, drilling is used instead of blasting. This method reduces noise but extends the construction period.
Working Hours and Contractor
The works are primarily carried out on weekdays between 07:00 and 16:00. Certain noise-intensive activities may also take place during evenings and weekends, following advance notice.
Service line works and basic infrastructure construction are being carried out by Skanska on behalf of Stockholms stad. As part of this effort, ongoing vibration monitoring and other environmental protection measures are in place to minimise disturbance to the surroundings.
Upcoming Works
Once the street and service line works are completed (preliminarily by the end of 2026), the next phase will begin, involving several new developments that contribute to the area's transformation.
Planned projects in the area include:
- Four new residential buildings, designed as two- to three-storey urban townhouses with green rooftop parks. The homes — approximately 30 in total — will be constructed by Nordr and integrated with Högalidsparken to create a cohesive green environment.
- A new underground building, developed by Granitor, featuring retail units at ground level, community functions on the upper floor, and a rooftop terrace with the potential for a café or restaurant. The building will connect to the park via new staircases from Hornsbruksgatan, improving accessibility.
Traffic and Accessibility
Hornsbruksgatan remains open but with reduced accessibility. Traffic and parking will be affected in stages. Advance notice will be provided regarding any temporary closures.
