The arenas' large-format experiences must be supplemented with more housing, workplaces, meeting places and services.
The Globe area stretches towards Gullmarsplan in the north, Arenavägen in the west, Nynäsvägen in the east and Enskedevägen in the south. The area contains Tele2 Arena, Avicii Arena, Globen shopping and hotels, among others.
Söderhov
On parts of the former Söderstadion and Hovet, called Söderhov, housing, offices and commercial premises for trade, restaurants and association life as well as preschools are planned. Söderhov comprises approximately 850 homes and 10,000-30,000 square meters of offices. Garages and a training rink for ice hockey (Hovet's existing ice rink) below ground are also included in the plans, after Hovet's visible parts above ground have been demolished.
Quality Hotel Globe
Quality Hotel Globe/Strawberry hotel (Arena 1) is planning expansion on both sides of the existing hotel. The planning proposal enables an event hotel with hotel rooms, conference areas, restaurants and cafes. The variety of activities and events should make the area a safe and lively meeting place, where everyone feels welcome.
Avicii Arena and Annexet
Avicii Arena (Stockholm Globe Arena) is to be modernized. The arena is being rebuilt to offer an intimate and quality experience regardless of the type of event and audience size. It will be closed for redevelopment in 2024 and will be opened in early 2025. The annex shares functionality with Avicii Arena and is being rebuilt to be used as an independent arena both in 2024 and beyond.
